Selling

The part that has to be right every time

Most of a till's life is one item after another. LinxPos keeps that path short — scan, price, next — and handles the exceptions without stopping the queue.

In detail

What you get

Scan or key

Barcode entry, product lookup by code or description, and quantity or weight entry for loose goods.

Promotions

Multibuys and offers are applied as items are entered, so the customer sees the discount as it happens rather than as a surprise at the end.

Associated items

Products that carry a follow-on — gift wrap, a deposit, an accessory — prompt for it at the point the item is scanned.

Age and quantity restrictions

Restricted products stop the sale for verification or approval, with the limit held against the product rather than in someone's memory.

Returns and refunds

Returns are entered against the original sale where there is one, and are journalled as distinctly as any other transaction.

Suspend and recall

Park a basket to deal with the next customer and bring it back on any lane when they return.

Price overrides and discounts

Line and basket discounts, with the authority to apply them governed by the operator's access level.

Customer accounts

Associate a sale with a customer by card or account number, for loyalty, staff purchases or account trading.

How it runs

Step by step

  1. Enter Items are scanned or keyed; price, description and any offer appear as they go on.
  2. Resolve Restrictions, associated items and approvals are raised at the moment they apply.
  3. Total The basket totals with discounts and tax shown line by line.
  4. Tender Payment is taken by any combination of methods, and the receipt prints.

What it means at the counter

Outcomes

  • Shorter queues, because the common path is the fast path
  • Prices and offers applied consistently on every lane
  • Restricted sales stopped by the system rather than by judgement
  • Fewer voided baskets, because a sale can be parked instead of abandoned

Suits

A good fit for

  • Retailers with mixed baskets and frequent promotions
  • Sites where restricted products are part of the range
  • Counters where queue speed is the operational constraint
